Fuel activate defenseman Travis Armstrong prior to road trip

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs announced Monday that they have added defenseman Travis Armstrong to their active roster, while releasing defenseman Brad Denney from his contract. Armstrong was claimed Sunday by the Fuel off ECHL waivers, where he was placed by the Idaho Steelheads.
Armstrong, 26, has appeared in 13 ECHL games this year split among the Steelheads, Manchester Monarchs, Brampton Beast and Norfolk Admirals. The 6-foot-5, 216-pound blueliner has also skated in 22 contests with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs of the Southern Professional Hockey League, recording two goals and five assists. A native of Smiths Falls, Ontario, Armstrong served as an alternate captain for the SPHL’s Louisiana IceGators last season, tallying 12 points (1g, 11a) in 50 games.
The Fuel begin a three-game road trip Wednesday night against the two-time defending Kelly Cup Champion Allen Americans.
Next Home Game: Friday, February 24 vs. Fort Wayne – 7:35 p.m. (The Giving Game) The Fuel and CHN join forces again, this time in conjunction with Community Health Network Foundation’s annual “The Giving Gig.” The Fuel will be sporting specialty jerseys designed by local patients, which will all be auctioned off after the game. All of the net proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Community Health Network Foundation. Friday is also a Fuel College Night presented by Moe’s Southwest Grill – pick up a ticket, $5 towards concessions and $5 Moe’s Bucks for $20 with a valid college ID.
Single-game tickets are now available for the third season of Fuel hockey in Indianapolis at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum box office or at all Ticketmaster locations.
