Defending Kelly Cup champion Aces to host Fuel October 7th and 8th in Anchorage.
INDIANAPOLIS – Prior to the start of their inaugural ECHL campaign, the Indy Fuel will travel to Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska for a pair of preseason games vs. the defending Kelly Cup champions, the Alaska Aces, on Tuesday, October 7th and Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 with both games scheduled for an 11:15 pm EST faceoff, the team announced Monday.
“We’re excited for the opportunity to take on the Aces in the preseason,” said Fuel Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Scott Hillman on Monday. “It will be a great test to play the defending champions and the trip will provide our team a good chance to bond before the season gets underway.”
Last season, the Aces, ECHL affiliates of the NHL’s Calgary Flames and the AHL’s Adirondack Flames, defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones four games to two in the Kelly Cup Finals to capture their third ECHL title in franchise history (2006, 2011). Alaska’s championship run came on the heels of a league-best regular season showing during which the Aces posted 97 points and the ECHL’s best record at 45-19-3-4 to claim Alaska’s ECHL-record fifth Brabham Cup as the league’s regular season champions.
In 2014-15, the Indy Fuel, the proud “AA” affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, drop the puck on their first season in the ECHL. Season ticket packages for the Fuel’s inaugural campaign are available now starting at just under $12 per game!
