Fuel Host Unfamiliar Opponent in Tulsa Oilers

Fuel begin three games in three days against the Tulsa Oilers

OIL SPILL: Opening up three games in three days, the Indy Fuel host an unfamiliar opponent in the Tulsa Oilers on Friday night. Indy has won back to back games entering Friday night’s contest, earning points in three straight games. Tulsa enters Friday’s matchup having earned 15 points in their last 10 games, although only winning two out of their last five games. 

 

THE MATCHUP: The last time the Fuel met the Oilers was last season when Indy stole back to back games by one goal each at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Friday’s game will be one of only four games outside of the Central Division for the remainder of the 2019-20 season. Playing 15 games outside of the Central, the Fuel have put together a 7-8-0-0 record. Tulsa has only played in five games against teams from the Central Division this season, earning a 1-2-2-0 against the Wheeling Nailers, Kalamazoo Wings and Fort Wayne Komets. 

 

STAYING HOT: Earning a goal and an assist on Tuesday night, Indy forward Alex Rauter extended his current point streak to five games. The second-year forward has earned eight goals and nine assists since being acquired in a trade from the Rapid City Rush on December 10th. In his last five games, Rauter has earned four goals and three assists. Leading the Tulsa Oilers in points, JJ Piccinich has earned nine goals and 28 assists in 37 games. Piccinich will be looking for his first goal since January 3rd on Friday night. 

 

NETMINDERS: Splitting the season with Dan Bakala and Chase Marchand, Charles Williams has appeared in 27 games this season, putting together a record of 16-8-1-2. The goaltender has played over 1500 minutes this season, registering a 2.71 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage. Playing in 24 games in an Oilers uniform, Devin Williams has earned a near .500 record this season. Attaining a record of 12-10-1-0, Williams has registered a 2.69 goals-against average and a .667 in 24 games this season. Splitting the season with Williams, rookie goaltender Olle Eriksson Ek has earned a 7-9-2-1 record while amassing a 2.92 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage. 

 

LOOKING AHEAD: In the first of three games in three days, the Fuel host the Tulsa Oilers on Friday night before visiting the Kalamazoo Wings on Saturday. The Fuel will close out the three games with a Sunday afternoon matchup against the Fort Wayne Komets. With no weekday games next week, Indy will play three more games next weekend, with all three games coming on the road against Central Division teams.
