Indy Meets Jacksonville to Finish Southern Road Trip

ICY FORECAST: Indy finishes off their southern road swing on Wednesday night taking on the Jacksonville Icemen. Since becoming a franchise in 2017-18, the Icemen has never met the Fuel. The Fuel have lost three straight since going on their southern road trip and will look to turn their fortunes around before returning home on Friday night to face the Wheeling Nailers
THE MATCHUP: The Icemen have struggled to find consistency recently, unable to win back-to-back games all season. Coming off of a 3-0 loss to the Orlando Solar Bears, Jacksonville will finish off a four-game homestand against Indy on Wednesday night at Veterans Memorial Arena. After winning three straight games at home, Indy has dropped their last three games on their four-game southern road trip. Coming into Wednesday night, Indy will be looking to win their third road game of the season out of eight.
SPECIAL TEAMS BATTLE: Going 2/10 on the power play over the weekend, Indy sits in sixth in the league in the power play, scoring on 22.4% of their chances. Heading into their final game of the road trip Fuel also sit in first in the ECHL in road power play record, scoring on 29% of their chances. As one of the most penalized teams in the league, Jacksonville averages 24.36 penalty minutes per game as well being scored on six times while shorthanded, twice as many times as any other team in the ECHL.
BETWEEN THE PIPES: Charles Williams started two out of the three games this weekend, eventually being replaced by Chase Marchand on Sunday afternoon. Indy’s goaltenders have combined for a 4.38 goals-against average and a .862 save percentage through 13 games. has Appearing in five games for the Icemen this season goaltender Michael McNiven has earned 1.81 goals-against average and a .942 save percentage, putting him in third in the ECHL in goals against and first in save percentage. Splitting duties with McNiven has been Adam Carlson who has played three games, earning a 3.69 goals-against average and a .878 save percentage.
LOOKING AHEAD: Indy will close out their four-game southern road trip on Wednesday against the Icemen before returning home Friday, November 22 to host the Wheeling Nailers. The Fuel will go back on the road on Saturday to face the Cyclones before beginning a three-game road trip to the Northeast to face Adirondack, Maine and Worcester.
